This time of the year the Racing Industry focuses on Las Vegas as NASCAR invades the city and its Motor Speedway with over racing 300,000 fanatics.
What most may not know, is that Las Vegas is home to one of racing’s all time legends. Carroll Shelby built his first Shelby Cobra” in 1962. That prototype vehicle sold at a Sotheby’s Auction in 2016 for $17.62 million dollars. In-fact, if you in the market the Shelby Center has Cobras on the floor for sale. Perhaps better known than the Shelby Cobra is the Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra. The Mustang Cobra first appeared in 1968 and was in production into the early eighties. Ford resurrected the Cobra Mustang in the 1990’s and they remain in production today.
The Shelby Heritage Center is only minutes south of the “STRIP” and is open 7 days a week. They offer free tours at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm Monday thru Friday. On Saturday they have only one tour at 10:30 am. Just line up in the waiting area outside the production floor door. There are no tours on Sunday, however the Cobra and Mustang garage is open for viewing and the gift store is open with Shelby merchandise and autographed items for sale.
